Acupuncture, are you serious?

You want me to voluntarily allow someone to put a ton of needles in my skin? That’s the question most people ask when I tell them the benefits of acupuncture. I have always loved trying something other people fear. I guess it is just in my DNA. So I wanted to write a blog on the many benefits of acupuncture and how a consistent treatment plan can change your life like it has mine.

So how does Acupuncture really work?

The Chinese believe that Acupuncture works by balancing our Qi (our vital essence). The Qi runs along 12 meridians and when they are blocked, it can show up as illness. Some people say, that’s a bunch of mumbo jumbo. Well the WHO (World Health Organization) and the NIH (National Institute Of Health) say different and recognize Acupuncture to be an effective treatment in a variety of health concerns. It has been used for thousands of years throughout the world so I believe it’s track record speaks for itself.

What conditions can Acupuncture treat?

Acupuncture is used to treat a variety of conditions and concerns.

Below is a list of what Acupuncture can do for you:

Smoking cessation

Cognitive decline from Parkinson’s Disease- tremors, sleep, depression, pain, walking etc.

Acupuncture is now a hot trend for women and men looking to improve their skin by targeting wrinkles, fine lines and uneven skin. But does it work?

Acupuncture needles are placed in pressure points in the face which releases energy and endorphins. This type of minor trauma can stimulate cell re-growth, increase collagen and improve the blood flow to the face. When the needles are inserted into the face, the muscles contract which helps tone the skin for a more youthful look.

The average session takes around 45 minutes and 5 sessions for a patient to notice a difference. It is recommended to have sessions weekly or biweekly and then every 6 weeks to maintain results. Some of the side effects can include: bruising, skin discoloration, and soreness, but go away pretty quickly and not everyone will experience the same side effects.

If you have it done, please share your results. We would love to know about your experience.
