Newfoundland Canada might not be on everyone bucket list, but believe me, it should be. If you are a motorcycle enthusiast, it is definitely worth the trip. It is also a great trip to take with the family because of its beauty and natural resources. Check out some of the best things to see and do on your trip.

Take the Ferry Over

Taking a ferry ride over from Nova Scotia is a great experience for the family. It is a unique trip that everyone will enjoy.

PLACES TO VISIT ON YOUR TRIP

Gros Morne National Park

If you love National Parks like I do, then you need to visit one of the best in Canada, Gros Morne National Park. The Park will remind you of Iceland and is truly breathtaking to see. The Park has great hiking conditions, fishing, iceskating, animal watching, ice climbing and wonderful star gazing. Trek up to the top of Gros Morne Mountain for fantastic viewing.

Whale Watching is a Must

Twillingate is a great place to go whale watching. There are many whale watching tours so take your pick. They all seem to work together so you won’t miss out on the action.

Looking for Wildlife

Newfoundland is known for great wildlife. And one of the best places to find them is Witless Bay Ecological Reserve. It is a great place to spot puffins during the summer and also the time to spot hundreds of thousands of sea birds. Located about 30 miles from St John’s, the reserve consists of four small islands. You can even spot black-legged kittiwakes and common murres by the thousands. Whales can also be spotted from the reserve.

Mistaken Point

Newfoundland’s newest World Heritage site, Mistaken Point give you a chance to see some of the world’s oldest fossils. Check out Edge of Avalon Interpretive Center.

La Manche Provincial Park

Take a drive along the Irish Loop and you will make your way to La Manche Provincial Park with a gorgeous waterfall you can take a swim in. Also, you can camp at Chance Cove, Butter Pot, as well as La Manche.

George Street

If you are looking for the Bourbon Street of Newfoundland, you need to check out George Street. Every good party city has their main bar zone. New Orleans has Bourbon Street. If you make it in July you will get to enjoy the George Street Festival which allows you to see bands on outdoor stages all across the street.

Cape Spear Lighthouse in St John’s

Built in 1836, Cape Spear is Newfoundland’s oldest lighthouse and it offers some fantastic views.

Fogo Island

If you love art and architecture, check out Fogo Island.

St. John’s Haunted Hike

If you are a paranormal lover like myself, you need to check out this haunted hike in St. John’s. It’s been voted as Event of the year. Happy Haunting.

Places to Stay

Close to Mistaken Point is the Edge of the Avalon Inn. Such a wonderful place to stay with a wonderful restaurant the whole family would love.

If you are coming for the motorcycle loops, check out Seagoat Moto Lodge. June to October is the best time to come for the 550 miles per today ride and traffic is close to none so you will have the best driving possible to explore the roads.
