We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

Have you dreamed about going to faraway places, but no one will go with you? Maybe you haven’t found that special someone yet, or they may not like to travel. I have talked to so many people that have put off their travel dreams because they are fearful of doing it alone. Sure, solo travel has its pro and cons, but I have found that the pros way outweigh the cons.

Personally, I really enjoy traveling on my own because I can go at my own pace and do whatever I want to do without having someone complaining they don’t feel like doing that today. In my twenties I drove across country alone from Kentucky to California. It was a little frightening but so worth it. So, I wanted to come up with five vacation spots that are safe for the female, or male solo traveler.

Look, I know it can be scary to travel by yourself, but trust me, it’s a must for everyone. Traveling solo has been one of the best gifts I have ever given myself. So please enjoy these five destinations that are safe for the solo traveler. Let us know in comments if you have vacation spots our readers would enjoy learning more about.

Reykjanes, Iceland

Iceland is probably one of the most beautiful countries I have seen from travel magazines. I have not personally been yet, but it is way up on my travel bucket list. I have many friends who have been before so they shared a few spots you may enjoy checking out. Also, Iceland was voted as the safest country in the world so you can feel safe going it alone.

Check these spots out

 The Blue Lagoon is located around 40 kilometers from the islands capital Reykjavik and is a must see for a solo traveler.

 Harpa Concert Hall is a beautiful glass building located right by the Reykjavik waterfront.
 Go visit the Northern Lights.

 Reykjavik is home to the only Phallological museum in the world. Sure you want to see the shrunken remains of men.

 Get up close to a blue whale in the Whales of Iceland. Its an interactive museum that will teach you everything you want to know about the blue whale and others.

Cape Code, Massachusetts

Cape Cod is known as the tail of Massachusetts and a wonderful destination in New England for the solo traveler. Cape Cod is super easy to navigate and super safe so you will feel comfortable going it alone. I would personally drive so you can see the beauty of this city and the gorgeous beaches. Whenever I think of Cape Cod, it always brings me to mind of the Kennedy family hanging at their compound in Hyannisport. I think those photos are how I developed my first crush on John John.

Things to See

 Watch a beautiful Cap Cod Sunset. They are breathtaking especially at Skaket Beach.

 Check out the 14 beautiful Lighthouses. Cape Cod is known for their lighthouses.

 Go see P-town (Provincetown) which is a cute town with unique stores, art galleries and wonderful places to eat.
 JFK Museum in Hyannis

Montauk, New York

The Hampton’s are a wonderful place to check out in New York. I would suggest not going in the summer because a lot of NYC will be there so I would find a different time to go and you have the perfect solo vacation spot. Stay at Gurney’s Montauk Resort and Seawater Spa so you have access to the 2,000 feet of private beach. They have an ocean fed seawater pool, which I believe is one of a kind in the US.

Spots to Check Out

 Want a night out for a few cocktails? Check out the Surf Lodge

 Montauk Point Lighthouse- National Historic Site with great views of the Atlantic Ocean

How great would you first solo trip be in Botswana? It has more wild elephants than any of the other African countries but is a little more expensive. If you want to visit Africa, then Botswana is your safest bet to travel to Your best choice for lodging would be glamping Yes, Africa has glamping LOL. Who knows, you may even meet a Prince. If its good enough for Harry and Meghan, then I say go as soon as possible. The people are not very impressed with celebrities or royalty so its the perfect getaway.

You could stay at the Mapula Lodge where they fell in love. It is a little pricey at $800 a night but if you are taking a trip to Africa, start saving way in advance.

 Okavango Delta- unspoiled wilderness
 Pottery Factory in Gabane
 Chobe National Park

In Copenhagen, you will find a pleather of things to do. It is Scandinavia’s most fantastic city by far. The city is one of Europe’s oldest capitals and the royal family in Denmark is the oldest in the world. Many visitors that go to Copenhagen come for the food. It is a foodie’s dream. Even though the city is old, it is still very youthful with great entertainment for the modern traveler. You will find great restaurants, malls, and plenty of stores.
