When in Chi-town

Chicago is by far one of my favorite cities to visit in the states. I recently took a trip to Chicago with friends and I wanted to share two of my all time favorite places to eat. I think my friends Lesley and Bill will agree, these two restaurants are a must stop when you go to Chi Town.

The first stop is the world famous Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Company on Clark Street. Well first of all, you have to arrive at the front and give your name to a guy who doesn’t even write your name down. He’s that good that he remembers everyone and what order they gave their name. He tells you to come back in 2 hours and he will come out and get you and take you to your seat. So go shop and come back. ?
2 of the most popular items are the Pizza Pot Pie, which is made from scratch with homemade sauce which consists of olive oil, fresh onions, green peppers, whole plum tomatoes, and a special blend of cheeses. There are a few other ingredients, but you get the picture. And the second item, which I loved so much, is the Mediterranean Bread. OMG, this is the best bread I have had since I took a trip to Europe in my youth. You can really make it a meal with the homemade sauce to dip it in. This place is worth the two hour wait.

The next restaurant is open 24 hours a day, so you have no excuse to not stop by. Tempo Café, located on Chestnut Street, offers the biggest breakfast portions ever. I mean the plates are huge and you have so many choices. My Fav is the Huevos Rancheros, which is 3 eggs topped in homemade salsa. Their eggs are to die for and so fresh. We had dinner here and it was just as good. Definitely stop by both places next time you visit Chicago.
