Best Products and Remedies to Help with Rosacea

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

As women we deal with a multitude of skin issues on a day to day basis. As we get older, things don’t get any easier. We had some readers reach out to us to do a blog on rosacea. I have multiple friends that deal with this issue, so we are happy to come up with products and remedies to help minimize its effects.

Rosacea is a chronic disease of the skin that normally affects the face but your eyes can also be affected. Many things can lead to rosacea from stress, humidity, too much sun to your genetics. Since there is no cure for rosacea, there are products and treatments that can help stop your flare-ups and possibly make your life a little easier. These are suggestions based on our research and advice from friends. It is always best to discuss treatment options with a physician or dermatologist.

So, what are some common signs of rosacea?

Flushing

Persistent redness on the face

Irritated eyes

Bumps or pimples that look like acne

Dry skin

Burning or itching sensation

Redness along the forehead, nose and cheeks

Remedies you can do at home

  • Apple Cider Vinegar is great to take on a daily basis. Taking it with honey helps with the taste. You can also mix it with baking soda and warm water and apply it to the affected areas. Do this at least twice a day.
  • Aloe vera gel is a great natural, antibacterial that can help with flare-ups. Apply it to the skin after washing your face and allow it to dry. You can feel it helping with itching right away. Using a aloe plant works the best.
  • Turmeric Powder works great to help with rosacea. You can make a paste with water and apply it to the skin. Leave on for 10 minutes then wash off with a gentle cleanser.
  • Rosehip oil is known to help with healing.
  • Coconut oil has great healing properties. Use each night at bedtime.
  • Green tea has been known to be a life saver for many rosacea suffers. Boil it on the stove, then refrigerate it for 30 minutes. When you take it out, dip a cotton ball or cloth and apply it to the affected areas.

Anti-inflammatory Foods that may help reduce flare-ups

There are some foods that can help with inflammation in the body which has been known to be one of the causes of flare-ups of rosacea. Foods that are high in omega-3 fatty acids can help with inflammation. Flax seeds, berries, celery, grapes, cucumbers, cauliflower, mango, pumpkin, leafy greens, sweet potatoes and zucchini are just a few you may want to ingest. Foods you might want to avoid include: fried foods, sugary juices, white flour, processed meats and alcohol.

There are some great essential oils that may relieve symptoms. Frankincense oil, rosemary oil, clary sage, tea tree, lavender, roman chamomile and rose oil have all been known to help rosacea suffers. Remember, everyone’s skin is different so the results may vary.

Prescription meds you may want to discuss with your doctor or dermatologist include: Soolantra or Mirvaso which both restrict vessels in the skin.

Below are a few products that are over the counter you can try to help calm the skin and reduce redness. Let us know in comments if you have suggestions to help our readers. XOXO
