We remember many things from our childhood, from playing outside, to our first kiss, to the dreams we had for our adulthood. The memories I will always carry with me are The many summer trips I took with my family. Our love of travel has taken me to 48 states in the US to 8 countries in Canada and Europe. The two states I have yet to visit are Alaska and Hawaii, so these are on my bucket list. Alaska is so large and breathtaking that I am sure I would need a good month to even see a small portion of this lovely state. A few things I would love to see are the Northern lights and the Denali National Park, one of the largest in the US.

Northern Lights: I have been told the best chance to see this phenomenon is in the cold, winter months between September and April. Friends have told me to brave the cold after midnight to see the stunning color show under the Alaskan sky. Friends say photos don’t do this justice as you have to experience it to realize the true beauty.

The Denali National Park: The Denali mountain is the traditional name but many explorers have dubbed it Mt McKinley. The Peak stands at 20,320 feet and the glacier filled mountains are supposed to be one of the most spectacular sites you can see in America. There are over six million acres of river valleys and land encompassed with bears and wildlife you don’t get to see everyday. Definitely a must on a trip to Alaska.

I am not sure how well I would sleep during the Midnight Sun that Alaska faces, which brings expanded daylight but I am sure the people who experience this on a day to day basis would have some pretty thick blinds for their homes. I’ll take it to experience the beauty this lovely state has to offer. Sleepless nights would be worth it. ?
