EXPLORING THE CARIBBEAN

Have you ever heard of Palm Island? If not, you need to see what this sun-drenched islet is all about. Beautiful sand, turquoise water and palm trees galore, it’s a little piece of paradise in the Caribbean. This is just one of the places we want to share with you on today’s blog. We will look at Barbados, and more of St Vincent and The Grenadines as well. Palm Island is located about ten minutes away from Union Island and close to Mustique. It used to be called Prune Island and after the American Adventurer John Caldwell arrived, he leased it from St Vincent and The Grenadines government for $1 dollar a year. The Resort allows guests 16 years and older so it is more of an adult vacation. Located on 135 acres, the resort offers you beachside dining, snorkeling, trips on the resort boat and paddle boarding to name a few activities. You will enjoy the sounds of local reggae bands and on Tuesday evenings, you can enjoy Silent Cinema right from the beach. This resort really knows how to take care of their guests. Check out their site below.

ST VINCENT AND THE GRENDADINES

St Vincent is normally not as talked about as the smaller islands in the Grenadines like Mustique or Bequia but it is the largest of the islands and is now becoming more of a tourist attraction. Due to a recent volcano eruption, it may be a little while before you can travel to the island but when it does open back up, you won’t be disappointed. Here are some fun things to see and do.

Visit a Waterfall

On the Western side of St. Vincent, you will love visiting some spectacular waterfalls. It can be hard to reach the waterfalls so you must be up for some adventure. Dark Falls is one that comes to mind and is around 28 miles from Kingstown. You even get to cross over a rope bridge that is suspended over the river. Sounds like my kind of adventure.

Visit Wallilabou Bay

If you are a fan of the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean”, then visiting Wallilabou Bay is a must stop on your journey. Some of the iconic scenes were shot here and tourists love jumping on a boat to eat at La Rochelle restaurant and bar that houses some of the movie’s memorabilia.

Visit Young Island

Young Island is located right off of St. Vincent and is a private resort but those not staying there can boat over to enjoy a nice meal and drink. Every Saturday they offer barbecue night.

Where to Stay in St Vincent

The Cotton House Hotel is a beautiful boutique-style hotel set right on the beach that offers a wonderful seafood restaurant and rooms with a gorgeous ocean view.

Barbados

Barbados is one of the world’s best island destinations and is a spot not to be missed. Most young people hear Barbados and think Rihanna. She is for sure one of the most famous things to come out of the island but it offers so much more.

Visit Bridgetown which is one of the most beautiful forest and a wonderful place to go hiking.

Visiting St Nicholas Abbey is a must stop on your visit. Enjoy the rum punch at its rum distilleries.

Check out Harrison’s Cave located in St Thomas Parish. It is a cave that offers extraordinary geological limestone formations.

Home to more than 500 species of rare tropical flowers and plants, Hunte’s Botanical Gardens is a must stop.

If you can, visit during the Crop Over Festival which was established in 1687. It offers six weeks of massive street parades.

Where to Stay

The House is a great place to stay if you want adults only. No KIDS ALLOWED. When you arrive, the hotel offers a jetlag massage. How great is that? The House opened back up after renovations in 2017.

Saint Peter’s Bay luxury resort offers wonderful beachfront villas and is located in Speightstown. This is a wonderful 5-star resort with everything you need right at your fingertips.

Beaches

One of the best beaches in Barbados is Paradise Beach. It is an oasis everyone needs to check out. A lot of tourist don’t even know the beach exist so you may not have a lot of people around.

Next beach to check out is Paynes Bay. It is a wonderful place to go sailing, waterskiing and jet skiing.

Pebbles Beach is a great place to learn how to paddleboard.
